Adam Proteau: Even if they miss the playoffs, Wings remain a modern-day marvel The Red Wings' incredible run of 24 straight seasons of playoff appearances is in serious jeopardy, but Detroit's fans can take solace – and indeed, celebrate – in the realization that no NHL franchise has had the type of run the Wings have had. Okay, maybe one – but when you find out which one, you'll be even more impressed by it.

They threw the entire league semipermanently out of balance in demanding to be moved east. If they miss the playoffs, I sincerely hope they finish with more points than the West's 8th place Wild. Serves them right.

@ Snowblind: Well, I think they don't think about that at all If they were in a different conference they would have had a totally different schedule.
